Celebrating 50 Years
The Rice University Teacher Education program celebrates 50 years of teacher preparation in 2014. Founded in 1964, the program was established on the tenets of creating content experts who were adept at writing and delivering innovative curriculum. Today, Teacher Education at Rice University provides professional education courses that include extensive study of critical issues in education and effective pedagogy for diverse learners.

The Urban Education Symposium is part of the 21st Century Learning Series. This series provides an opportunity for the Houston K-12 education community to discuss new teaching and learning practices and theories in a forum dedicated to increasing student learning, engagement and achievement.

MAT for Experienced Teachers
The Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) for Experienced Teachers is purposefully designed to address the advanced needs of experienced teachers as they hone their craft through rigorous study in professional education courses that culminate with a Capstone Portfolio showcasing the depth of their program experience.
